It’s Autumn time!!!

Yep….. time to start bringing out those new autumn pieces you’ve been waiting to wear because it’s just been a little too sweaty!

One of my favourite clothing items is the LONG Cardi…. you can’t go wrong!! My tip is get something that hugs your figure and shows off your curves…. it can turn a nanna like look (yes… cardi and nanna’s go together like peas and carrots) into a sexy, eye catching outfit.

Love love love….the grey cardi from Country Road and…. lets be honest it even gives me a bit of a booty (channel my inner Kim K)….!!! It draws in at the waist when buttoned up and dangles over you hips (perfect combination to get a great shape!)

Over some pants or a hot pencil skirt….. you’ve got yourself a winner….!!!

The Tunic (like a long top with a slit down the side) is my new favourite thing!

From Country road (and a shout out to CR for a fabulous autumn collection, just GORG!) I have paired the very comfy top with a black skirt with a white stripe ….. I tried it all black but I think breaking it up popped it a little better.

This outfit is great for a slimming effect (and I can’t go past a good monochrome style), Black of course always does the job and the white lines down the side lengthens the body and creates a attractive silhouette.

This is an outfit you want to wear on a fat day!!!!

ALSO if you want to go a little more sophisticated, tie the hair back…… and if you wear glasses (which I only do sometimes…..they are prescription but it more depends what I’m wearing haha don’t think the optometrist would like to hear that!) it’s edging towards sexy librarian (who doesn’t want that!)

This was my attempt at a little rock chick! Well as rock chick as I’ll go anyways!

I went to a gig (and let’s be honest the sweaty, jumping around of adult men that swing their long locks around, screaming atmosphere, is not really for me!!) but I thought this was a chance to mix it up…..go a little edgy! Right? (or more….so I didn’t stand out like a sore thumb).

I think the key is…. if you’re not a rock chick (and I’m clearly not!) or not dressing in your usual comfortable get up (and what you know), don’t over do it with the look…. maintain your style and style principles but change it up a little.

I love a good short leather skirt…. (every girl needs one) and I paired it with a sheer top. I think some sheer can be trashy if gone too far….but done the right way, edgy and funky…..!!! Although my style clearly comes out with the shoe…. this is me all over!!! Keep what you stand for but don’t be afraid to try something a little different. And rolling (or shushing…. the arms) is a must…. it transforms from polished to a bit more relaxed.

This dress was a WIN as soon as I put it on!

Fit perfectly, comfortable, on trend and just GORG!!!

As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it!….. I usually know, if I love it instantly, I’ll eventually buy it because if I don’t, I’ll just be thinking and dreaming about it until I do! (yes I dream about clothing…..)

My advice though, if you love it from the get go, BUY IT or hey there’s always layby! I have purchased a number of outfits thinking “yeah it looks alright”….. but that shouldn’t be a selling point. Most times I’ll get home and then it sits in the cupboard for a while or I’ll wear it once and try to convince myself I love it. “OMG I’m in love” now that’s a reason to buy it then and there. MY ADVICE is….. beware the trap!!!! If you love it, but cannot afford it, resist trying it on…. believe me, it is more painful to walk away from the perfect outfit when it looked so GOOD on you….!!! Maybe try waiting for it to come down in the sales(which I try my luck at, a lot of times) but then you run the risk of it being sold out completely. (it can be devastating!)

But sometimes my bank account just has to suffer….. or I have to resort to going without meat for a week (noodles are cheaper haha) to buy that knockout outfit. Fashion is sacrifice…..!

YOU JUST NEED TO LET GO…… THE BIG CLEANOUT!

YOU REALLY NEED TO LET GO!

Believe me this is harder to do than most people think. We can have an emotional link with some of our pieces of clothing :’This is the skirt I kissed that guy in’, ‘this is the top I got my job promotion in’. BUT why keep it, if we’re never going to wear it again???

This weekend instead of doing a shoot to post as an outfit blog, I knew I needed to finally clean out some of my OUTDATED clothes (and let’s be honest I had a few, way too many)… to make way for the news ones, my new style and of course some closet space. (which is needed that’s for sure!)

HERE’S FIVE TIPS ……

FIRST STEP : Allocate a good hour or two to doing this as it can be time consuming (well yes in my case because I have so many clothes…. and it’s tiring, you’ll need a cuppa and a piece of cake after to recover)

STEP TWO : Know who you are and what your style is and represents. I have completely changed my style in the last year. Colour it seems has gone out the door (although there is the exceptional hot red dress!!)Black, white and tan seems to be my style mantra, so looking at my wardrobe it didn’t really reflect that because there were too many old clothes.

STEP THREE : Be harsh! Yes it may still look good on you still but my TIP is “Did you wear it in the last season?” If the answer is NO then WHY do you need to keep it? Get rid of it….. OR “Have you worn it in the last 6-12 months?” If the answer is again NO, sorry but it goes onto the ditch pile. And just because it’s a DESIGNER brand doesn’t excuse keeping it…. !!!

DON’T JUST KEEP THINGS BECAUSE YOU THINK THEY’RE GREAT, IF THEY DON’T FIT PROPERLY, THEY ARE NOT YOUR STYLE…. IT’S NOT WORTH CLOGGING UP YOUR WARDROBE.

STEP FOUR : Once you have a pile of things you are ridding from your wardrobe, think about whether they are good enough to sell them….WHY not make some $$$$$ Is it still a great item someone else would like to wear? Then sell it on EBAY (more money to buy fabulous things you want)…. otherwise donate to Vinnies or the SALVOS… it’s all for a good cause and the disadvantaged can also look stylish.. or the hipsters!!!

STEP FIVE : Rearrange your wardrobe so it is more organised, pants in one section, tops in another….. so on. Maybe colour co-ordinate. A clean and organized wardrobe makes it so much easier when you’re in a rush to see the fabulous clothes you have and so they’re not hiding away… believe me I have forgotten some things I have bought and then months later discovered them when I could have been wearing them all that time.

FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOUR CULL!

Treat yourself by buying that fabulous top or stunning skirt afterwards….. the pain eases pretty quickly.

WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR A CLEANOUT!!!
